A renowned geneticist recently published his assessment that Senator Elizabeth Warren appears to have native American blood in her. Whether or not the senator is part Cherokee has been the topic of raging debate in political gossip columns for weeks. Doctor Carlos Bustamante says the DNA test she took in order to trace her lineage is typically only wrong approximately one out of 1,000 times and the senator’s test suggests that she her ancestors six to 10 generations ago were likely Cherokee.
The POTUS himself was entangled in the situation after the media printed that he had made disparaging remarks about the senator and her the ancestry to which she had laid claim. Senator Warren shot back at the Commander-in-Chief by making the results of her DNA test public.
Doing so may have cleared up some confusion among those who were unsure whether the senator had told the truth when she had stated that she was part Cherokee. Another thing her published test results seem to have done is to anger the current secretary of state of the Cherokee tribe. He said that taking a DNA test does not give someone the right to attribute themselves as an official member of the Cherokee nation. The secretary noted that tribal government decides such issues and no one can call themselves an official Cherokee against the proper tribal authorities say it’s okay.
In response to the secretary’s outrage, Senator Warren said she had no intention of claiming to be an official member of the Cherokee tribe. She merely wanted to prove that her lineage includes past generations of native Americans who were Cherokee. Ms. Warren has now requested that the POTUS write a check for $1 million to her favorite charity, a promise she says he made to her a while back if she would take a DNA test to prove she has Cherokee blood.
