Creative ideas: Some types of hacking are good!

Alongside advanced technology throughout the world, came new types crime, such as identity theft, electronic wire fraud, and computer hacking. Most people know what it’s like to log into Facebook only to learn that someone has hacked their accounts. While it might involve creative ideas to a point, it gives hacking a bad name, for sure.

I have a friend who works as a professional hacker, however, so not all hacking is bad. This particular person’s job involves hacking into the computer systems of large companies in order to identify their system weaknesses, then provide options for improving security. The idea is that if he can hack into the system, so can the bad guys. Companies hire their own hackers to keep other hackers from getting their stuff.

Creative ideas for life hacks

This post is meant to provide you with ‘good’ hacks – life hacks, to be specific. Life hacking is a phrase that’s been coined for super cool ideas that add convenience, or ways to save money or time to your life. I scoured the internet to create a Top Five list here on The Hot Mess Press. While there are myriad creative ideas available, I chose ones I might consider using.

You can implement most of these creative ideas using staple items you likely have lying around your house. Others might require an inexpensive purchase of some sort, but, over the long haul, would theoretically be worth the time, effort and money you invested at the start.

We’d love for you to help us add to this list of creative ideas by sharing more life hacks with us! For now, here’s my vote for the Top Five life hacks of the day:

Plate protection on the move

Are you getting ready to move to a new home? An easy way to protect your plates during the move is to stack them inside your packing box with a foam plate on top of every breakable plate. This helps create a nice buffer that prevents plates from clanging against each other in the box. I liked this idea because it seems simpler than wrapping each plate in newspaper or cloth.

Creative ideas for carpet stain remover

Shaving cream is apparently a great carpet stain remover. You squirt some on the stain and gently rub it in a bit. Let it sit until dry, or overnight, then vacuum it up. Supposedly, the stain will disappear.

No need to toss your favorite sweater

Who doesn’t hate when a favorite sweater becomes covered in those little fiber ‘pill’ balls? I’d bet I am not the only person who has at least one sweater hanging in the back of a closet that is too ‘pilly‘ to wear but kept there, just in case I figure out a way to make it look nice again. This is definitely a life hack I plan to try! The idea is to use to a razor to shave those pesky little pill balls right off your sweater and out of your life. Caution is obviously the name of this game, so you don’t ruin the fabric or wind up in the emergency room.

Keep sneakers dry and odor free

As a mom with six of 10 kids still at home, I’m thinking of requiring at least several, specific and unnamed people to try this life hack! The claim is that by stuffing wads of newspaper or pages from a magazine into sneakers, it absorbs moisture  to keep the shoes dry and gets rid of odors. Anyone who has ever spent a car ride with a bunch of kids saying, “What IS that smell?” to receive a response similar to, “So and so took his shoes off,” will likely be next in line behind me to check the validity of these creative ideas

Use creative ideas to optimize a Google search

This hack was recently shared with me by a coworker and, if I had listed these hacks in order of greatness, this would be number one! It literally changed my life inasmuch as saving me time, increasing productivity and alleviating frustration on the job is concerned. If you are looking for a source article within a particular time frame, you can open a general Google search page, then click the ‘tools’ icon. When the next page opens, select ‘any time,’ then choose the ‘customized’ option. You can now enter a specific time range to optimize your search! I know, right? You’re welcome!

We’re all about great ideas that add convenience and happy to your life! Let us know if you try any of these ideas, or fill us in on your own favorite life hacks!
