ENFJ Personality: The Protagonist

ENFJ Personality: The Protagonist

Everyone gather ’round in a circle to learn about our human super heroes, The ENFJ personality! ENFJs are Extroverted- (N) Intuitive- Feeling- Judging. According to MBTI, ENFJs are the kind of people you want on your side: they’re empathetic, see the potential in everyone and are loyal. The majority of ENFJs are female, at 69% while males are 31%. In a word, they are protagonists.

If you read my recent article on INFJs you may think, “Well, ENFJs are just the extroverted version of INFJs, right?”. Wrong. That one letter makes a HUGE difference in personality type. So, we’re going to look at each personality type as its own special entity. And now, let’s take a look at these Mentors.

ENFJ personality traits

Think Wonder Woman: she’s concerned, responsive, loyal, idealistic, supportive and people-oriented. Also, she has that invisible plane. I’m guessing that most ENFJs don’t have one, but that doesn’t make them any less awesome.

The ENFJs believe in us. There’s not a whole lot of them–they make up about 2% of the population. But when they’re around, we know it. They’re charismatic, confident and inspiring. Like INFJs, ENFJs are altruistic and see the potential in everyone. Even better: they want to help us reach that potential. Many politicians and US presidents have been ENFJs. Makes sense, right?

Strengths and weaknesses

ENFJs are our true, natural leaders. Think about it: they’re altruistic, charismatic, loyal, reliable, enthusiastic, persuasive…need I go on? Those are exactly the traits we want in those who lead us.

But like every other human beings on the planet, even our favorite protagonists have weaknesses.
ENFJs can be too selfless at times. On the surface, it sounds good to be selfless. However, spreading yourself too thin while trying to help everyone is probably not a good thing. Surprisingly, ENFJs can struggle with fluctuating self-esteem. They can also battle with making tough decisions. You kinda gotta do that when you’re a leader. Fortunately, there are probably personality types that help our protagonists when they’re in a decision-making bind.

More about ENFJs

The ENFJ personality does not like it when his or her efforts are not reciprocated. For example, ENFJs connect with others easily because they are genuinely interested in the ideas of others. And because they’re loyal, they’ll put a little extra oomph in friendships to remind their friends that they care. It’s hurtful to ENFJs when this is not reciprocated. But we can all understand that, right? Or…maybe not? That’s something we’ll explore in other personality types.

Common phrases for the ENFJ might be, “You can do it!” and, “I believe in you”.

Famous ENFJ personalites

  • Wonder Woman (duh!)
  • King David
  • Martin Luther King Jr.
  • Barack Obama
  • Jennifer Lawrence
  • Demi Lovato
  • Sean Connery
  • Kate Winslet
  • Denzel Washington
  • Morpheus

Diana, aka Wonder Woman

“If no one else will defend the world, then I must.”

Alas, every MBTI personality has an evil twin and in the case of ENFJs, I present Joseph Goebbels (Nazi) and Bane from Batman. I know, I know…he’s fictional. I actually had a hard time finding a famous evil ENFJ. But that’s a good sign since they’re pretty charismatic and people are naturally attracted to them like white on rice. We don’t want any evil ENFJ’s floating around influencing the entire planet.

What does MBTI say about YOU? Are you an ENFJ? Do you relate to traits listed in this article? Tell me about it!
