Gorgeous (and Easy) Christmas Wine Bottles

Written by:

We’ve got less than two months to Christmas! Does that make you want to reach for a glass of wine? By all means, please do so (responsibly)! And when you’re done with that wine bottle, I’ve got a super-easy craft for you that won’t cost you a lot of money and looks really elegant. Invite your pals over for wine night and then save your bottles for this gorgeous Christmas Wine Bottle display. Big thanks to Pinterest and this site for giving me the idea!

Gather your supplies

You’ll need:

  • A few wine bottles – Color doesn’t matter, though clear will be easier and faster to paint
  • White paint – I used acrylic craft paint, but you could use just about any kind that will adhere to glass
  • Goo Gone or other glue remover
  • Spray adhesive
  • Epsom salt

Let’s be crafty!

Soak your wine bottles in hot soapy water to remove the labels. Use the Goo Gone or other adhesive remover as needed until your bottles are clean. Cover your work surface with newspaper. Paint as many coats of white paint as needed to make the bottles solid white. If you have white spray paint, this step will be much faster, but at the time, I didn’t have an area that I could safely do that, so I just painted them by hand.

Once the bottles are fully dry, sprinkle Epsom salt onto your work surface. Spray (or paint) your wine bottle with adhesive and roll it in the Epsom salt. The result doesn’t have to be perfectly even – in fact, if it isn’t, it will look more like peaceful snow drifts.

Finishing touches

Once your bottles are dry, know that some of the Epsom salt may come off. I haven’t experimented with spraying a layer of adhesive OVER the Epsom salt, so if you try that, let me know how it goes! From there, you can decorate by putting Christmas/holiday themed fake floral pieces in the necks of the bottles, tying on festive ribbons, or even placing some ornaments around the bases of the bottles.

There you have it! The most fun Christmas craft you’ll ever make! And, as you can see from the photo, it looks so pretty when it’s complete! These are gorgeous (and easy) Christmas wine bottles that will impress all of your guests. They make excellent gifts, too! Just make sure to enlist some help drinking all that wine – call me!
