INTP Personality: The Logician

Written by:

And now, possibly with the aid of the Scientific Method, we will learn about the INTP personality: The Logician. INTPs are Introverted- (N) Intuitive- Thinking- Perceiving. INTPs make up 4.5% of the population. Of this number, 20% are females and 80% are males.

INTP personality traits

When you think of INTPs, think of Einstin. Yes, he was an INTP. They are ingenious, philisophical, logical, analytical, precise, theoretical, mentally quick, and contemplative. INTPs like to understand the world around them. They’re not interested in socializing at tea parties. Rather, they’d like to better understand how the teapot and cup were constructed. They are skeptical and always analytical.

Strengths and weaknesses

We’re lucky to have INTPs. Without them, we would not have the scientists, doctors, mathematicians and computer specialists among us. We also wouldn’t have most economists, inventors, researchers and attorneys.

INTPs can best anyone at identifying discrepancies and inconsistencies. The detective you’re talking to at the police station? She might be an INTP. Basically, she’s a human lie detector. INTPs are tireless when it comes to finding a solution to a problem. However, they love to share their ideas before they’re complete. It helps them to fine-tune the ideas they’re forming about something. So don’t think they’re unreliable or dishonest…they just haven’t reached the conclusion of their findings before they talk about it.

The major downside to being so smart is that…well, not everyone can keep up. INTPs are often lost in their own thoughts. When they do share what they’re thinking, the “maniacal genius” comes out and the listener may not comprehend what’s being said.

INTPs won’t understand you when you start talking about your feelings. Remember, they’re looking for logic. Sometimes feelings and emotions aren’t logical. Like the ENTJ, INTPs like to stay as far away from emotions as possible. They also hate having their mental prowess challenged. They eventually get that a lot of people won’t understand them. But if you insult their intelligence, they might have to throw down.

More about INTPs

INTPs spend a lot of time in their heads. They’re tireless thinkers, remember? They might have to be coaxed into doing common and/or necessary things like sleeping, making their beds, celebrating their birthdays, and getting married. They’re not good shoulders to cry on, but if you need a solution to your problem, they’re your go-to’s. Without these masterful theologians, we couldn’t begin to grip what the point of life is.

Einstein

A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be.
