Is Your Business Idea Worth a Go?

Have you been dreaming of starting your own business? Perhaps, you’ve been working in the 9 to 5 world (which likely often winds up being longer) and answering to a higher authority on the job for years. What you’ve really wanted for as long as you can remember is to be your own boss, to launch your own company, market your own product or service and cut ties with the conventional go-to-work-everyday-and-collect-a-paycheck-every-week industry.

It’s definitely a risk. However, small business owners and entrepreneurs will tell you that the risk is part of the thrill. There are several factors to consider and questions to ask yourself that may help you determine whether or not now is the time to go for it.

If you want to be a business owner, you have to at least have an idea for a product or service in mind. Top marketing experts say that anything you sell or promote should be able to solve a problem for someone. Ask yourself: What problem will my product or service help solve? Your problem-solving idea should create convenience, practical solutions or functionality in consumers’ lives.

Money is, of course, a high priority because it costs money to make money. You may not have all the kinks worked out at this point but you should at least be able to determine a fairly accurate estimate of how much funds you will need to get your business of the ground. If your current financial state is insufficient, you’ll have to come up with a few ideas on how to raise the funds you need.

You’ve likely heard it said that you have to find your niche to be successful in business. It’s not necessarily a problem if you are selling a product or service that already exists; however, you‘ll want to put a unique spin on it to attract buyers or clients to your business over others.

Many say it’s better to take a risk than to do nothing and later regret your decision or wonder might have been.
