Millions of Teens Gather for ‘See You at the Pole’

Written by:

In the midst of protests over the flag and prayer, millions of teens gathered at flag poles across the country, and the world, to pray. According to a report from Hello Christian, images of these kids praying have been posted to websites, Facebook pages, and other social media showing just how expansive the turnout was for the annual event known as “See You At The Pole.” This event take place each year for kids to have a chance to show their support for God and country by gathering at their school’s flagpole to pray for each other, their friends, families, teachers, schools, and nation.

During the event, most gatherings include reading from the Bible, taking prayer requests, worshipping God, and even giving testimonies to what God has done in each individual life. The grass movement began in Texas, USA in 1990 with just 10 teenagers praying at their school. Just twenty years later, there were millions who showed up for the event. The event takes place on the fourth Wednesday in September, landing on September 27th this year.

The event is always initiated by students, led by students, and organized by students. Although laws may prevent the school from sponsoring prayer time, they cannot override the students’ rights to pray. Word of mouth spreads news of the event each year, and its growth has reached unprecedented heights. Although it began in the United States, is has now spread to many countries, including South Africa, Scotland, Portugal, Peru, Norway, Nigeria, Malaysia, South Korea, Kenya, Japan, Indonesia, Guam, Guana, Ecuador, the Congo, and Canada.

What an amazing thing to witness millions of kids taking the time to stand up for their beliefs and to pray for those who don’t support their right to do so! I am sure that a lot of adults could learn from these young people.
