Update on Health Research: Part 2

Written by:

In my previous article Update on Health Research: Part 1, I confessed that I had a “woe is me” moment that lasted about two months. In those two months, I felt sorry for myself for all my health woes: hair loss and weight gain (Dang it! Why oh WHY can’t it be the other way ’round??), chronic fatigue, not feeling enthused about life, etc. During this time, I spent the same two months gloriously eating my feelings and subsequently gaining nearly twenty lbs. Hello Fat.

I decided it was time to buckle down and reassess how I want to spend the next few decades of my life. Good-bye Popeye’s and cupcakes. Now what?

One of the first things I have set in motion is meditating. I tried different apps that I didn’t like and then I found Emily Fletcher on Udemy.com. I’m three weeks into it (yes, yes…my changes are THIS recent), and so far I like it. I can’t levitate or walk through walls yet, but I will keep at it. I do feel a general sense of calm that I didn’t have before so I feel encouraged.

There are a lot of things I don’t like about Facebook but there are some things I do like. One of things I like is free webinars will pop up in my news feed periodically. Through this ad-networking-thing that Facebook does, I found two people that are helping me change my health for the better. The first is Dr. Axe. I have not read any of his books, but he is a prolific YouTuber and after watching a few of his vids, I became a believer. I bought some of his supplements and feel they were nourishing, but I still felt like something was missing.

And then by glorious Divine Intervention (and I mean this quite literally and respectfully towards Him), I found Dr. Izabella Wentz. I watched her free webinar episode and found myself in tears: I found a central group of people who were or are suffering the same life-draining symptoms as me. I really broke down when a woman had said, “I knew there was a problem when I had to make a choice between working out or cooking dinner for my family”. I couldn’t believe it…it was as if I scripted my symptoms and the people in the video were acting out my words. Except it wasn’t acting: they were suffering the symptoms of thyroid issues, just like me.

So between Wellness Mama, Dr. Axe and Dr. Wentz, I feel that I’m going to overpower the symptoms that have been clobbering me for the last 10 years. It is a process, and in the next article, I will post exactly what I’ve been changing. I feel confident that these adjustments will allow me to heal from the inside out.

CJ is willing and ready to make changes. Having hypothyroidism is a total bummer, but she feels like NOW is really the time to affect change in her life and body. Who’s with me??
